Semillon,  although for some a little unfashionable now, has been in the Barossa Valley for many years and in fact many of the early great shiraz wines from winemakers like Peter Lehmann had a dash of Semillon in them. This is from a single vineyard located between the Barossa sub regions of Lyndoch and Rowland Flat. It was planted in 1919 by Franz Zerk, making it one of the oldest Semillon vineyards in the world. Its elevation is a little higher than the rest of Coonawarra and thus the wines made from here are a little more aromatic. I love this blend. Co-fermented [where the shiraz and cabernet are mixed before fermentation happens], means the wine has great structure.
