Why I like it: Margaret River is globally recognised for Cabernet Sauvignon, but the region’s classic Cabernet Shiraz blends remain one of Australia’s most compelling (and often underrated) styles.

The maritime climate, moderated by the Indian Ocean - allows for long, even ripening. Cabernet brings structure, cassis and graphite; Shiraz adds dark fruit generosity and mid-palate richness.

The 2023 Hidden Cave is fermented separately by variety before blending, allowing each component to retain its identity. Expect aromas of blackcurrant, plum and subtle dried herbs. The palate shows fine tannins, ripe dark fruit and balanced oak influence.

This is a beautifully structured yet approachable red that over-delivers for its price point. Perfect for entertaining, roast meats or a cheese board. Enjoy now or cellar for 5–10 years.
